Biography
Aline Morales is a Brazilian percussionist, singer, composer, and music educator based in Toronto.
Rooted in Afro-Brazilian musical traditions, her work centers rhythm as a tool for cultural connection, community building, and the sharing of Brazilian culture in contemporary contexts.
She is the founder and artistic director of Baque de Bamba, a Brazilian percussion ensemble dedicated to Maracatu and other Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and also a member of KUNE, the Canadian global orchestra known for its intercultural and collaborative approach to music-making.
As a solo artist, Aline received a JUNO nomination for her album Flores Tambores e amores, with all original compositions.
Through performances, workshops, and educational programs, Aline is deeply committed to spreading Brazilian culture and Afro-Brazilian musical traditions in Canada, creating inclusive spaces that emphasize strong rhythmic foundations, ensemble awareness, and cultural context for participants of all levels.

Maracatu Classes
After a long break, Baque de Bamba is back with our regular Afro-Brazilian drumming workshops, led by our music and artistic director Aline Morales.
Classes take place every Wednesday evening at Casa de Bamba, a beautiful and welcoming space that is home to Capoeira Bamba and other Brazilian cultural groups.
Classes run from 8:30 to 10:00 PM and are open to all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players.
Each session is structured in two parts: the first 30 minutes focus on fundamentals such as technique, timing, and core Afro-Brazilian rhythms, while the remaining hour shifts into a more dynamic, rehearsal-style format where participants deepen their musical understanding, build ensemble skills, and explore more advanced material at their own pace.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, there’s a place for you here.
Pricing is $35 per class, or $120 for a monthly commitment. All instruments are provided.
Paid street parking is available until 9:00 PM and becomes free afterward.
